About me

I’m Jess, a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.

I’ve worked in mental health services for a number of years, with experience across both CAMHS and adult services. I’ve worked across inpatient, crisis, community and primary care settings, supporting people with a wide range of mental health difficulties and at different stages of their lives.

For me, therapy is about much more than applying a particular technique or working through a set of worksheets. I think it’s important that you feel comfortable with the person you’re talking to. I try to bring warmth, honesty and a bit of humour into sessions, while creating a space where you can talk openly without feeling judged.

Children & young people

CBT for young people.

I offer CBT for young people aged 12 and over. Therapy is adapted to the individual young person, helping them understand what they’re experiencing and find practical ways to manage their difficulties. Sessions can be flexible and creative, with the way we work shaped around what helps them feel comfortable and able to engage.

Parents and carers can play an important role in supporting therapy. Depending on the young person’s age and needs, parents may be involved at different points and may be asked to support them with tasks or strategies between sessions. We’ll discuss this together so that everyone is clear about how parents or carers will be involved, while still respecting the young person’s privacy and independence.

Why eld?

Light, warmth and the possibility of change.

Eld is an Old Norse word meaning fire, and I chose the name because I believe the qualities that fire represents reflect what therapy can offer.

Fire has always been something that brings people together. It represents light in the darkness, warmth in the cold, and a sense of comfort and safety when it is needed most. It is also something that is constantly changing, sometimes gentle and steady, sometimes powerful and transformative.

Just as a fire can be tended, protected and rekindled, therapy can help you reconnect with your own strengths and rediscover the parts of yourself that may have felt lost during difficult times.

What to expect

Therapy that is collaborative, practical and personal.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. My aim is to help you feel comfortable, understood and supported from the very beginning.

CBT is a collaborative and practical approach. Together, we'll develop an understanding of what's keeping your difficulties going, set goals that are tailored to your individual needs, and work at a pace that feels right for you. Between sessions, we'll often agree small tasks to help you put new ideas and strategies into practice in everyday life.

The aim isn't just to help you feel better in the moment, but to help you develop the understanding and skills you need to face future challenges long after therapy has ended.

Getting started

What happens next

Enquire about therapy

If you think CBT may be right for you, you're welcome to get in touch using the enquiry form or by email. You don't need to include lots of detail at this stage, just enough for me to understand what you're looking for.

Initial assessment

We'll arrange an initial assessment to explore the difficulties you're experiencing, what you're hoping to achieve from therapy, and whether CBT is the right approach for you. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions and decide whether I'm the right therapist for you.

50 minutes · £40

Ongoing therapy

If we decide to work together, we'll arrange regular online sessions. Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually held weekly, although this can be discussed depending on your individual needs.

50 minutes · £60

Payment is made by bank transfer and is due prior to the session beginning.

Online sessions

Therapy is delivered online via Microsoft Teams, so you can access sessions from wherever feels most comfortable and private for you. A secure meeting link will be sent to you by email on the day of your appointment.

Cancellations

Your appointment time is reserved just for you. If you need to cancel or rearrange a session, I kindly ask for at least 48 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice, or missed appointments, will be charged at the full session fee.

Confidentiality

What you share in therapy will be treated confidentially. There may be times when I need to share information with another professional if I’m concerned about your safety or the safety of someone else. Wherever possible, I would discuss this with you first.

For young people, we’ll discuss confidentiality and parental involvement at the start of therapy, so everyone knows what to expect.
